We've Moved!
But First…
Before we get to telling you all about our (not so) recent move, we wanted to take a minute to chat up our new and improved blog. You may have noticed things look a little different around here. We’ve been working hard on a bit of brand refresh and hope you like what you see.
We’re also planning on adding a few special series from time to time, ranging from our top plant picks to our favorite 48-hour weekend projects. If you have any specific topics or posts you want to see from us in the future, please let us know in the comments below. We’d love to hear from you! Also, if you haven’t already, jump on the bandwagon and subscribe to our newsletter. You’ll be the first to know when a new post is up and will get bonus DIY tips and tricks.
Welcome to the Commonwealth
Now onto the point of this post! Howlett & Co has officially uprooted and moved from Connecticut down to Virginia. We were sad to leave our lovely home after all of the hard renovation work but are excited to tackle our next project. Earlier this summer, we bought a 1910, 2-story brick house in a historic Richmond neighborhood. It was actually the first and only house we toured in town.
As you can see, there are lots of charming features in the house from the floor-to-ceiling windows and 11’ ceilings to the open stair, archways, and many many fireplaces. In spite of these pretty pics, we have some serious work cut out for us. The kitchen needs a gut overhaul, the house needs all new wiring and plumbing, we barely have a working bathroom (in spite of having 3 of them!), we need a new roof, and we have a toilet mounted to a tombstone.
All that being said, we are excited to take on this challenge. We’ll be doing most of the work ourselves so it will be a bit more slow going than the last place but we hope to take you along every step of the way. Wish us the best of luck.
